Canyons School District Facilities Condition Assessment (FCA) Master Plan
Canyons School District engaged MOCA Services, to develop a comprehensive FCA Master Plan to guide long-term capital planning and support a future bond initiative.
At the time, the District’s FCA data was static and outdated, limiting its usefulness for strategic decision-making. The District leadership wanted to transition the existing information into MOCAPlan®, MOCA’s proprietary facility assessment platform designed to calculate the Facility Condition Index (FCI) and transform facility data into clear, actionable insight.
Working directly with the District’s Facilities Director and serving as the steering committee for the study, MOCA customized the software to align with the District’s guiding principles and planning priorities. Historical data was migrated into a dynamic digital system, enhanced with updated cost modeling for building systems and components. Schools were prioritized based on condition and leadership goals, with graphical mapping used to clearly illustrate facilities needs across the portfolio.
MOCA Services also developed a 10-year Capital Expenditure Plan, providing multiple funding scenarios to improve overall facility conditions over time.
The result was a clear, defensible roadmap for capital investment. The District successfully passed its 2017 bond election and is now advancing the repairs and replacements identified in the master plan.
